Is it Ilegal to play ps2 games on a Emlator if I own the ps2 disc?

Im getting a laptop and The console sounds pretty obsolete. So I was gonna get emulator but first I wanted to know if it was legal for you know legal reasons I was gonna get a emulator that asks to insert disc just saying to help with question I asked.
