Dipping cake pops in candy melts?

I just got a Babycakes Cake Pop maker, and I love it! The only issue I'm having is dipping them. I've inserted the sticks (with some melted candy melts), and I've let them chill. When I melt my candy melts though, the consistency is still really thick. It's almost like a frosting, and it makes it really difficult to dip the pops in it. I even make sure to use a deep bowl so I can fully submerge the pops, but it's the consistency that's the problem. Any tips? I microwave the melts for a couple 30 second intervals.
