I feel like the tampon hits something?

I'm 17 and I've been using tampons for the past year. However, I feel that when I am inserting the tampon, it feels as though it gets to a point where it can't go any further and slightly angles to the left or right. Is this normal? I mean, I know there is your vaginal wall but I wouldn't have thought my tampon would hit it? It doesn't leak, still works the same. But please help. Should I get checked out? I'm a virgin and haven't done anything sexual.
