Are the ringtone pop-ups safe?

If you've ever been on a lyrics website you probably know what I'm talking about. When you first get on the page it says "get >Insert song name here< as a ringtone". Does anybody know if this is safe? Can I give them my number without worry of malware or damage? Thanks
